The maps that show the probability of a favorable environment for severe storms are NOT equivalent to the SPC forecast of the probability of severe storms within 25 miles of a point. Just because a favorable environment is likely to be in place does not mean severe weather will occur. A document describing how the probability of a favorable environment for severe storms is calculated will be linked at a later date. Always refer to the SPC for the official convective outlook.
